What We Believe

The following are the core beliefs of Compass Community Church which are based on God's unfailing Word. Every teaching and ministry of Compass is shaped by these truths.

We believe:

In the authority of the Bible

In the Triune God

The Bible is the inspired word of God, therefore it cannot err, and is our final authority in faith and life.
God is eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

In Jesus Christ

In the Virgin Birth

Jesus Christ is the incarnate Son of God, one in nature, substance, and power with God –He is God Himself!
Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, given a human body, and yet was sinless in every way.

In the Substitutionary Sacrifice

In Bodily Resurrection

After living a perfect life, Jesus died in the place of those who will put their faith in Him alone for their Salvation.
Jesus Christ rose from the dead in the same body in which He was Crucified.

In The Ascension

In the Holy Spirit

Jesus Christ ascended back into heaven where He now sits at the right hand of God the Father, acting as our eternal and faithful High Priest.

The Holy Spirit is the 3rd member of the Trinity, who was sent by God, through Jesus Christ, to take up residence in the hearts of every believer. The Holy Spirit unites us with Jesus, and empowers us to live according to the character of Jesus.

In the Existence and Mitigated Power of Satan

In The Fall of Humanity

Satan is a created angelic being who rebelled against God and therefore fell. At present, Satan is our tempter, our adversary, and our accuser; but his destiny is eternal destruction.

All men and women were created in the image of God, and were meant to enjoy perfect relationship with Him. However, through willful disobedience, humanity has fallen from this perfect relationship, and is steeped in and mastered by sin. We are completely and totally unable to earn or merit the relationship with God we were created to enjoy.

In Salvation

In the Near Return of Jesus Christ

Salvation is the gracious gift of God through Jesus Christ. Through faith in Jesus' perfect life, substitutionary sacrifice, and resurrection from the dead, we too may have and know eternal life. This eternal life makes us a new creation in Jesus, free from the destructive power of sin, and alive to the righteousness of Jesus Christ.
We believe in the personal, bodily, imminent, and glorious return of the Lord Jesus Christ; in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust; in the eternal blessedness of the redeemed and the judgment and eternal conscious punishment of the wicked.
